On January 24, 2025, the Youth and Gender Initiative (YOGI) proudly launched its first outreach activity of the year by joining the global community in commemorating the International Day of Education. This year’s theme, “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” set the tone for a day filled with insightful and engaging activities that underscored the transformative power of education.
In partnership with Presbyterian Primary School Bujong, located in Bamendankwe, YOGI engaged teachers and nearly 700 pupils in a celebration of learning, creativity, and sustainability. The event was designed to inspire young minds to embrace the evolving role of technology in education while staying rooted in values that prioritize human agency.

A Day of Inspiration and Creativity
The International Day of Education celebration was nothing short of vibrant and impactful. Pupils actively participated in a variety of activities, including:
- Storytelling Sessions: Captivating tales that sparked curiosity and imagination.
- Poetry and Rhymes: Enthusiastic recitations showcasing the linguistic talents of the students.
- Talent Showcases: A platform for pupils to demonstrate their unique skills and creativity.
Out of the nearly 700 pupils, five exceptional students stood out for their exemplary participation and were recognized with special prizes. The awards, which included exercise books and pens donated by YOGI, symbolized the importance of nurturing and rewarding educational excellence.
Promoting Cleanliness and Sustainability
Beyond the celebration of education, YOGI took the opportunity to contribute to the school’s environmental efforts. The organization donated trash baskets to Presbyterian Primary School Bujong, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and sustainability in creating a conducive learning environment. This gesture reflects YOGI’s commitment to holistic development that integrates education, environmental conservation, and community well-being.

A Heartfelt Collaboration
The event was made even more memorable by the collaborative efforts of YOGI’s dedicated team, comprising:
- Akwo Kelvin, Executive Coordinator
- Rev. Che Festus, Head of Programs
- Mbapeh Francis, Volunteer
Their collective enthusiasm and dedication ensured the day’s activities were not only successful but also deeply impactful.
The Headteacher of Presbyterian Primary School Bujong, speaking on behalf of the staff and pupils, expressed heartfelt gratitude for YOGI’s presence and support. He highlighted how the day’s activities and donations would leave a lasting impression on the pupils and contribute positively to the school’s development.
Shaping the Future Together
As YOGI continues to champion the cause of education, gender equality, and youth empowerment, this outreach activity underscores the organization’s commitment to shaping a brighter and more inclusive future. By integrating technology, creativity, and environmental consciousness into its initiatives, YOGI is empowering the next generation to navigate a rapidly evolving world with confidence and purpose.
