On Thursday, 14 August 2025, the Conference Hall of the Divisional Office Tubah came alive with the energy, passion, and creativity of young people as the community joined the world in commemorating International Youth Day 2025 under the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.”
The event was jointly organized by the Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC) Tubah, Global Promotion Media (GPmEDIA), and the Youth and Gender Initiative (YOGI), with technical support from the Sub-Divisional Delegation of Youth Affairs and Civic Education Tubah. The day’s proceedings were held under the esteemed patronage of the Divisional Officer for Tubah, Mr. Massango Metougue Narcisse, and coordinated by the Sub-Delegate for Youth Affairs, Mrs. Jacqueline Eyabi Achonduh.
A Day of Inspiration and Engagement
The programme kicked off at 11:00 AM with the singing of the National Anthem by the Youth Conscripts of Tubah, followed by prayers led by Rev. Che Festus Mforbi, Head of Programs at YOGI.
An electric keynote on Youth Dynamism and Engagement in Community Initiatives was delivered by the President of CNYC Tubah, who also doubles as the Executive Manager at GPmEDIA. This was followed by a practical presentation on Youth Biometric Cards and other opportunities by Mrs. Augusta Ngungwah Nkemta, Director of the Municipal Multipurpose Youth Center, Tubah.
The theme of the day was brought to life through a presentation on Youth and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), delivered by a passionate Young Conscript who schooled her peers on how the SDGs connect to their everyday lives.

One of the highlights was a panel discussion on Youth-Led Solutions, coordinated by Mr. Akwo Kelvin, Team Lead at YOGI. The panel emphasized the central role of young people in identifying local challenges and co-creating solutions that advance sustainable development in Tubah and beyond.
Youth Voices in Action
The 28 participants were divided into four working groups, each tasked with developing mini-project proposals around key SDGs:
- Education (SDG 4): Creating a community-based orientation club and peer mentoring initiatives.
- Gender (SDG 5): Advocacy campaigns and leadership training for girls.
- Environment (SDGs 13 & 15): Launching tree-planting drives and waste reduction campaigns.
- Peace (SDG 16): Establishing peace dialogues and civic education clubs.

The group presentations showcased the creativity and commitment of Tubah’s youth to drive positive change in their community.
Recognition and Support
In his closing remarks, the Divisional Officer expressed deep satisfaction with the programme and commended the organizers for empowering young people to be problem-solvers. He pledged his continued support for youth initiatives in Tubah and made a generous donation towards the event.
The day concluded with group photographs, laughter, and a renewed sense of purpose among participants, signaling that Tubah’s youth are ready to lead from the front in advancing the SDGs.
