Welcome to an exhilarating journey into the heart of innovation and academic excellence with the YOGI STEM Excellence Exam 2024! This remarkable initiative, held in Bamenda, is not just a competition; it’s a celebration of young minds driven to reshape the future through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Phase I: The STEM Exam Competition
On May 22, 2024, the vibrant campus of GBHS Downtown Bamenda transformed into a battleground of intellect and innovation. The competition, aimed at students who have recently completed their Cameroon General Certificate of Education (CGCE) Ordinary Level, tested their mettle in key STEM areas: Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Technology and Engineering. This rigorous assessment through multiple-choice questions, short answers, and challenging problem-solving tasks was not just a test of their knowledge but a showcase of their ability to apply these concepts in real-world scenarios. The event saw participation from 26 spirited contestants from secondary schools around Bamenda, each bringing a unique perspective and solution to the table. Their efforts were meticulously evaluated by an impartial panel of judges who scored based on accuracy, comprehension, and analytical prowess.
Phase I: The STEM Exam Competition
Fast forward to June 14, 2024, and the atmosphere was charged with anticipation and excitement at the Conference Hall of Bamenda II Divisional Office. This prestigious awards ceremony honored the brilliance and dedication of our top performers. The winners were:
1. Achu Emmanuel Tse – GBHS Bamenda
2. Noho Patricia Kenne – GBHS Downtown Bamenda
3. Abonta Rita Ambe – GBHS Downtown Bamenda
These bright students received cash prizes, excellence certificates in STEM, and scholarships,setting them on a path to becoming future leaders and innovators in STEM fields.
A Community Effort Led by Youth and Gender Initiative (YOGI)
The STEM Exam Challenge is a brainchild of Engr. Njimukara Brian Njimukara and proudly promoted by the Youth and Gender Initiative (YOGI). As a not-for-profit dedicated to empowering youth and women, YOGI played a crucial role in enhancing the reach and impact of this event. Their involvement ensured a robust competition and significant participation of young girls, emphasizing YOGI’s commitment to gender equity in STEM education.
